Tohura a ‘goal machine’ from Kalsindur

One of the youngster of the Women Football team Tohura Khatun, turned into ae a goal-machine of the team when the 21-year forward has already scored 55 goals with the Bangladesh jersey. Tahura from Kalsindur village of Mymensingha, is now in second position when only the team’s captain Sabina Khatun is ahead of her scoring more goals for youth and senior national teams. 

The prolific striker also proved her scoring ability in the SAFF 2024, that ended on Wednesday with scoring five goals in four matches. She scored a hat-trick against Bhutan in the semi-final     and scored two goals against India in the group stage.  

The forward scored 10 goals in four outings in the AFC Asian Regional Tournament that Bangladesh won. She scored a hat-trick against India in the semi-final match and against Tajikistan in the final. 

Tahura also scored four goals in a match against the Philippines in the AFC U-16 Asian Cup qualifiers in 2019. In the same tournament, she scored another couple of goals against one of the world soccer powershouses Australia. Bangladesh could have won that match, despite taking lead twice at Chonburi, Thailand, the Australian girls eventually came back in the match.

In 2018, Tahura made an outstanding contribution to make Bangladesh champion in the four nations Jockey Cup in Dhaka. Eight goals came from his feet in three matches. He scored hat trick one each against Hong Kong and Iran, scored two goals against Malaysia.  

Tahura kept up her age-group momentum to the senior level as well. At her debut season in 2018, she has scored 12 goals so far. 

Tahura has become the leader of the attacks when the forward became the favorite of coach Peter Butler when the English coach called her “A perfect finisher”.  

Tahura does not want to stop here, she wants to achieve more glory for the country from the top level. Tahura said, “I love to score goals. Always want to score. Sometimes I can and sometimes I can’t. I have only one desire to write the name of Bangladesh to higher level. Tahura, who came from the remote village of Kalsindur of Mymensingh, has also become the 'goal machine' of Bangladesh.”
