A minor girl drowned in a ditch Nondunefda area under Gunaigachh union of Ulipur Upazila in Kurigram on Friday.
The victim was identified as Miftahul Jannat, 3, daughter of Lutfor Rahman, resident of Nondunefda village of the Upazila.
Locals said the girl fell into a ditch near to her house while she was playing nearby at noon. After searching, her family members found her floating at the ditch. However, locals rescued her from there.
The victim’s relatives said another child of Lutfor Rahman also drowned in a pond around two years ago.
Ulipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Golam Mortuja confirmed the matter.
