Patients suffering from various complicated diseases including cancer, kidney, liver cirrhosis, paralysis in stroke, born heart disease and thalassemia in Chapainawabganj sadar and Shibganj upazilas were given financial assistance cheques worth about Tk 46 lakh on Thursday.
The cheques of Tk 16 lakh were distributed among 32 patients of sadar upazila and Tk 30 lakh among 60 patients of Shibganj upazila in two separate programmes in respective upazilas.
Each patient got Tk 50,000.
In Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, the cheque distribution function was held at its conference room with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tasmina Khatun in the chair while Upazila Chairman Md. Tosiqul Islam Tosi attended it as the chief guest.
Among others, Upazila Vice Chairmen Tosiqul Alam Babul and Nasrin Akhtar and Upazila Social Service Officer Nasir Uddin were present.
On the other hand, Shibganj Upazila Social Service office also arranged a function on the occasion in association with Shibganj upazila administration at the upazila parishad auditorium.
Standing Committee member of the Ministry of Home Affairs Dr. Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul distributed the cheques as the chief guest with UNO Uzzal Hossain chaired the programme.
Among others, acting Upazila Chairman Golam Kibria, Vice Chairman Sheuli Begum and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Jubayer Hossain were present.
Social Service Department distributed the cheques.
