Usually the misdeeds of any human being is  removed from the mind of the people as well as government when someone is dead. But the activities of a government servant will remain for long due to some proved documents. Late assistant director of Bangladesh Road Transport Authorities (BRTA) in Jhenidah Bilas Sarker had set this sort of example before the people of Jhenidah, as well as the district administration preserving huge cash in hiding condition at his rented house in Jhenidah.

Jhenidah district administration office sources said, BRTA assistant director Bilas Sarker had died of cardiac arrest at Jhenidiah Sadar hospital on September 10 this year. As the other members of the family were residing in Dhaka, a team from the office of the district administration rushed to the house to make a seizure list of the goods in the house where Bilas Satker was residing.

The team in presence of two of the family members made the list of the households. But they failed to detect the items stored in a hiding chambers of  steel almirah. They informed the matter to the Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath. At last the chambers were broken down which thundered the people present there to make list and witness the situation. The chambers were filled with 1,000 and 500 Taka notes. The figure was counted at Taka 33.18 lakh. The team also found five bank cheques there.

Although the family members claimed the money as their own, the Deputy Commissioner informed the matter to the bank authority for his liabilities and bring the money under seizure list. Contacted Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath said they have informed the matter to the higher authorities  for next course of action.

Mention may be made here that there was a wide allegation of bribe and corruption by the BRTA assistant director Bilas Sarker. It may be assumed that the huge money was earned in an unethical way and preserved at the resident without depositing the same to any bank to hide the information.
