The government has collected Tk 23,34,000 as toll revenue from various vehicles crossing Madhumati Bridge in the last seven days. As many as 25,587 vehicles crossed the bridge during the period, said Mohammad Zahid Hossain, Executive Engineer of Gopalganj Roads and Highways Department.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the six-lane bridge virtually on October 10 and it was opened to traffic the next day. The Madhumati Bridge authority has fixed the toll rates to be paid to cross the bridge by different vehicles are as follows:
Large trailers will need to pay Tk565, trucks with three or four axles Tk450, medium-sized trucks with two axles Tk225 and small trucks Tk170.
Meanwhile, large buses will have to pay Tk205, minibuses or coasters Tk115, microbuses, pick up vans, converted jeeps and wreckers Tk80, and sedan cars Tk55.
Autorickshaw, three-wheelers, battery and CNG-driven autorickshaws will pay Tk25, motorcycles Tk10, and finally paddled vans, rickshaws, or bicycles will pay Tk5 as toll to cross the bridge.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s first six-lane bridge virtually on Monday.
After the inauguration, the toll will be collected manually first. Later toll will be collected digitally through the operator.
