Tk 191 crore allocated for ACC

A total of Taka 191 crore was allocated for the Anti-Corruption Commission, the national anti-graft watchdog, in the proposed national budget for the fiscal 2024-25.

Finance Minister AH Mahmood Ali proposed the allocation while placing the budget for fiscal 2024-25 in the House on Thursday.

Taka 185 crore was proposed for the ACC in fiscal 2023-24, while its revised budget was Taka 154 crore.

In his budget speech, the finance minister said the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption to prevent graft for the country's real socioeconomic development. By digitising various sectors, he said, the government is tirelessly working to prevent corruption and alleviate public sufferings.

 To take effective measures against corruption, the activities of the national anti-graft watchdog are being fully automated, while a Digital Archive, Digital Forensic Lab, and Investigation and Prosecution Management System (IPMS) have been launched, he said.
