As per previous announcement Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd has started disconnecting gas supply to households and industries in the capital in parts of the Dhaka North City Corporation.
Dhaka Marketing Division (North) of Titas said that the operation started on Monday (November 14) from 10 am in the Dhaka North City Corporation area.
Power generation in Bangladesh has been disrupted due to a gas crisis. Various industries and factories have come to a standstill. After repeated warnings despite all of this many customers are not paying their gas bill.
As a result Titas found some 3,000 domestic customers who have outstanding bills. It has been reported that the area from Rampura Bridge to Uttara and Karwan Bazar to Satarkul in Dhaka has come under Titas Kuril office.
General manger (revenue Titas Gas) said, “Operations are being conducted to disconnect these connections by dividing into 42 groups. If all the connections are not snapped in one day, the campaign will be continued in the second day also.”
Titas is now conducting massive awareness campaign against use of illegal connections. Though, there are many allegations against Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, some officers of the company led by some high official are trying to do better with a view to restoring its images. General manger (revenue Titas Gas) also said that the connection will be given again if the are cleared.
