Titas disconnects 4,000 illegal gas line connections

Gazipur regional office of the Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited disconnected over 4,000 illegal gas line connections of 500 residential houses in Taltoli area of Gazipur on Thursday last.  Three house owners were fined Tk 1. 60 lakh for using gas illegally at their houses.

Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited’s Gazipur regional office Engineer Md Ershad Mahmud confirmed the information saying that Titas gas authority, with the help of Gazipur district administration, disconnected those illegal lines through conducting a raid in that area from morning till evening. Huge amount of pipes and other materials that were gathered there to use for illegal gas connections have also been seized.

He said a number of illegal gas users connected gas lines in their residences without any permission of the Titas authority. The team fined two house owners of Taltoli area Mohammed Mozammel Haque and Dalia Sultana Happy Tk 70, 000 each for using illegal gas at their houses. They also fined another house owner Sufia Sultana of the same area Tk 20,000 for same reason.

Manager of Titas gas transmission and distribution company Gazipur regional office Engineer Md Ershad Mahmud,  deputy manager Engineer Sabiul Awal, Abdul Alim Rasel and Engineer Abu Sufian, assistant engineer Mirza Shahnewaz Latif,  sub-assistant engineer Mohammed Sabinur Rahman, SM Anowar Hossain and Asadullah Kaiser were present during the operation.
