Tigresses suffer massive defeat

Thanks to unbeaten opening stand of Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy Australia Women Cricket team inflicted a massive 10-wicket defeat over the hosts Bangladesh in the first T-20 of three-match series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Riding on an unbeaten 63 runs from captain Nigar Sultana, Bangladesh managed to score 126 runs for four wickets in stipulated 20 overs when they opted to bat first after winning toss.

It was another disappointing show from the batters when they lost the first wicket before to open the account with the opener Dilara Akter got out with giving an easy catch to Suitherland off  Molineux first ball of the innings for a duck. 

Bangladesh lost their second wicket for only two runs on the board when the one down batter Sobhana Mustary was bowled by Tayla Vlaeminck for a duck.

Though the captain Nigar Sultana accompanied by the other opener Murshida Khatun repaired the early damage but could not boost up the run rate when the second wicket partnership scored 57 runs from 56 balls.

Murshida Khatun was trapped lbw by Wareham for 20 runs off 27 runs and Fahima Khatun joined Nigar Sultana and they batted up to 19.3 overs to 60 runs in third wicket partnership in 8.3 overs.

Fahima was also bowled by Tayla Vlaeminck after scoring 27 off 21 balls with two fours and a six.

Nigar Sultana, who scored exactly half of the Bangladesh total, remained unbeaten with 63 from 64 balls. Her unbeaten 63 featured with seven boundaries. 

Australia women, the six-time world champions chasing to a paltry 126 runs to win played only 13 overs to reach target with the openers Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy remained unbeaten.

Alyssa Healy 65 off 42 ball with hitting nine fours and a six when her opening partner Beth Mooney scored 55 off 36 balls with hitting nine fours.
