Bangladesh is very optimistic about the forthcoming women's T20 World Cup as before leaving the country to play in the World Cup, Tigresses’ captain Nigar Sultana Joty expressed her hopes.
This World Cup will be divided into two groups with 10 teams. Bangladesh is in 'A' group with Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka.
“Our team this year is very balanced. Many young talented cricketers have been recruited into the team. Along with this, there are many experienced cricketers. I am very optimistic about this team” Joty said to press.
This season the women’s extravaganza going to be held in South Africa. The Bangladesh team will leave Dhaka at 6:30 pm today.
Bangladesh's first match against Sri Lanka is on February 12. Earlier, Bangladesh women faced defeat to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup at home. Now it's their turn to avenge the loss and make a great start in the World Cup.
Besides, Bangladesh will play against Australia on February 14 followed by New Zealand on February 17.
Bangladesh last won a T20 World Cup match in 2014. After that, the girls in red and green haven’t taste any victory in last three World Cups.
"Long time ago we won a match. My fourth and maybe others' fifth World Cup. So everyone wants to break the record,” Bangladesh captain said.
"The momentum that we have at abroad, if we get a good momentum in the first match, it will be good if we can carry it forward. I think it is possible to win two or three matches out of the group stage. We just need a momentum.” Joty added.
