Tigers suffer back-to-back defeat

It was another shambolic defeat for Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup. The Tigers were beaten by a comprehensive margin of 8 wickets in the hands of England during their second match of the Super 12 phase in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Bangladesh were completely outplayed by England in all three departments of the game. With this humiliating defeat, Tigers far-stretched dream to qualify for the semi-finals is almost over. They now have to win all three of their remaining games and hope other results also go their way.

After the first match against Sri Lanka, where Bangladesh gave up the victory. Cricket fanatics of the country still expected their team to at least put up a fight if not win the match against a much stronger England side. However, their hope were grounded to dust after such horrendous performance from the team.

After Bangladesh scored a paltry total of 124, England’s chase of 125 never was supposed to be threatening and it wasn't to be either as the openers got off to a flier. Josh Buttler played a cameo and Jason Roy kicked on to get them through, well almost. Jason Roy scored a 38-ball 61 before getting out. Malan played the anchor role and Bairstow added the finishing touch. The England batters took the baton from the bowlers to finish it off in a hurry and they won the match with 35 balls to spare.

Bangladesh just haven't had it easy. They have been underwhelming after arriving the Gulf and the gulf between them and England showed on Wednesday.

Earlier, it was a disappointing performance from the Bangladesh batters. They opted to bat, which hasn't been the trend in this tournament where chasing teams have done well so far. And then they started off very poorly. England’s pacer Chris Woakes and spinner Moeen Ali was brilliant again in the powerplay for England, reducing Bangladesh to 27/3. There was a trace of a recovery when Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah got together. But of all the England bowlers, it was the part-time spin of Liam Livingstone who got rid of both of them in a brilliant spell. The first six of the innings came in the penultimate over from the bat of No.9 Nasum Ahmed. It was just a struggle the with the bat in the entire way through. Mushfiq was the only batsman to pass the 20-run mark as he scored 30-ball 29.
