After the bitter experiences of humiliating defeat in Gwalior in the first T20, Bangladesh is looking forward to reclamation with leveling the three-match series when they are taking on hosts India today in Delhi. The meory of Delhi might be an inspirrtion for the Tigers when they had their lone victory against India out of their 15 T20 encounters.
But they will have to improve a lot in their performances to avoid the brultal Indian assault when after the undignified defeat in the first match their hope of almost ruined at all to win series, they had the target before leaving the series.
In Gwalior, Bangladesh could hardly show any fighting spirit, as India thrashed the Tigers playing with full domination.
Bangladesh, who could not appear with any specific plan in the first T20 match, batted against India in Gwalior with the blueprint they employed at the T20 World Cup. After failing to score in the powerplay in the good batting track, they struggled much against the spinners before being bundled out for a low total.
After bowling out Bangladesh, who came up with an awful batting show to be all out for 127 in 19.5 overs Indian batters proved that it was a batting paradise when they chased the 127 runs target by 11.5 overs. The way Bangladesh went down in the first match, Tigers hardly faced such a brutal situation in their cricket history.
But the Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto defended their approaches despite a seven-wicket defeat to India in the first game, as in the post match press meet he said, “I wouldn’t say we played badly.
We are a better team. We haven’t done well in this format for a long time, but I don’t believe we are such a bad team.”
Interstingly, the Tigers’ captain claimed that their batting approaches were correct, saying that aggression should be displayed in proper way.
“I think the batting unit didn't do well today. There will be aggression in the way we approach our scoring, but sometimes we have to select the balls correctly. We will think about it, but we can't rush in changing our approach.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh suffered miserable defeat in the Two-match Test series displaying dismal show, as India maintained their unbeaten run against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh's record against India in the T20 international is vulnerable as well when they lost 14 out of 15. The only victory that they secured came in Delhi, which will host the second T20 game in this series.
So, the memory of Delhi could inspire them to make a come back to keep the series alive.
However, Shanto intensely realised that they would need to utilize powerplay properly with keeping the wickets to have a positive flatform meanwhile, in the first match, they scored only 39 runs in the first powerplay, comparing to India's 71.
“We have to onset with confident keeping the wickets in the first six overs, and score runs in this phase, it not, it would be tougher for the next batters to thrive in.
“Otherwise those coming in next, it becomes too challenging for them. We have struggled in the powerplay. Those batting in the power play must take more responsibility, Shanto added.
