Tigers likely to seal series today

After a comprehensive six-wicket victory in the first ODI, Bangladesh confront West Indies in the second of the three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Friday. The match is scheduled to start at 11:30am local time.

Tigers remain favourites to win today’s (Friday) match and seal the series. The inexperienced Windies squad is likely to suffer the same outcome against a star studded Bangladesh side. The hosts have plenty of experience and quality in their ranks. Therefore, they will be confident to continue their excellent record on home turf.

New skipper Tamim Iqbal’s ODI captaincy reign started with the win. However, all eyes will be again on premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who single-handedly ousted the Windies top and middle order batsmen in the first match. Shakib had only played a handful of first-class matches before he returned to international return following his one-year ban. However, he did not look like a fish out of water at all. Shakib was brilliant with the ball in hand and flummoxed the West Indies batters, as he picked up 4 wickets from 7.2 overs.

The visitors are going to have a hard time to tackle him for the next three weeks as the series progresses.

Windies were also unable to handle the lethal pace attack of Bangladesh. Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain and the debutant of previous match Hasan Mahmud will be aiming to fire on all cylinders in today’s (Friday) match as well.

All in all, it will be a fascinating encounter to witness as the Windies will give everything they got to save their blushes from the last match.

However, Tigers are likely to win the series and begin their international year on a grand note.
