Bangladesh team began their practice ahead of the upcoming West Indies series starting on June 16. Left-handed batter Najmul Hossain Shanto believes they will be able to adapt to the conditions fully throughout these sessions and warm-up match.
Shanto believes the side has been well prepared and optimistic for the three-day preparation match which is set to play on Friday.
“Alhamdulillah! It was our first practice session. We have practiced very well, We had some fielding and batting sessions. We are in a very good position so far. We also have a preparation match ahead. I hope we can adapt to the condition very well,” said Shanto.
Bangladesh will be without the newly appointed Test captain Shakib Al Hasan during the warm-up match. Shakib was supposed to join the team on June 10.
"It is a positive thing that some of us arrived here a few days early and as a result, we have been able to get rid of the jet lag.
And we also did gym sessions, played some fun games among us. So, overall, we have been able to adjust to the conditions here very well,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh off-spinning all-rounder Mahedi Hasan on Friday said he is enthusiastic to play in all three formats of cricket.
Mahedi has been outstanding in the short-ball format, but he has had limited opportunity to play in the format. He has yet to make his Test debut.
“I am always ready (to play in ODIs). Not just ODIs, but all three formats of cricket. If the opportunity arises, I will try to perform well,” Mahedi told Cricfrenzy.
Mahedi last played a T20 match against Afghanistan in March. The all-rounder did not get a chance to play international matches after that series.
"I only play T20. The last time I played T20 was against Afghanistan, there was a break of three-four months. So it's really hard for me to adapt. But I am mentally preparing for it,”
Bangladesh are scheduled to play two Tests, three T20Is and three ODIs in their multi-format tour of the West Indies.
The white ball segment of the series against West Indies begins with T20Is and the first two T20Is will be played in Dominica on 2 and 3 July respectively while the third will be played in Guyana on 7 July.
Three ODIs are also scheduled in Guyana on 10, 13, and 16 July.
