Bangladesh T-20 World Cup match against former champions Sri Lanka starting at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Texas on June 7 is a chance for the tigers to show improvement after the last tournament dismal campaign in 2022.

Bangladesh team looks strong in the ICC T20 World Cup. Shakib Al-Hasan will captain the Bangladesh team, while Liton Das can be seen as vice-captain. But it has not been confirmed yet because BCB has not announced the names of the captain and vice-captain.

Bangladesh has not won a single ICC T20 World Cup trophy so far, so it wants to win the trophy this time.

The ninth edition of the Men’s International Cricket Council's (ICC) T-20 World Cup, 2024, will  begin on June 1–29 in the US and West Indies. This was disclosed by the ICC on Saturday.

Tigers in Group D, will face former champions Sri Lanka in their first outings at the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Texas on June 7.  After three days of the first encounter Bangladesh will commence hot favuorite team against South Africa at New York on June 10.

The third match of Bangladesh against the Netherlands at Arnos Vale Ground at Kingstown, St. Vincent in West Indies on June 13. Bangladesh will face their last match in group stage against minnows Nepal at the same venue on June 16.

Tigers have failed to win in Super 12 in the shorter version in 2021 World Cup. Bangladesh lost to Sri Lanka and South Africa by five and six wickets in the tournament.

Shakib Al Hasan sides won over the Netherlands by nine runs but lost to Proteas by 104 runs respectively in the shorter version in 2022 WC.

Tigers managed 144 for eight from 20 overs at Bellerive Oval, Hobart on October 24, 2022. Dutch were bundled out 135 runs. Shakib men were all out 101 runs against South Africa at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on October 27, 2022.

So, it would be tough task for Bangladesh to win against the opponents specially South Africa and Sri Lanka in the shorter version World Cup.
