Tigers’ batting a big concern

Published : 02 Oct 2024 09:42 PM

Disgraceful and as well as frustrating batting display from the Tigers’ batters against India is a big concern ahead of the South Africa tour of Bangladesh. Tigers demonstrated dismal display in their second innings in the second Test of the two-match series against India in Kanpur.

The way Bangladesh batters exhibited their batting was very much shocking, their performances were very much upsetting and evidently, it is a great concern ahead of the home series against Sout Africa to start from October 21.

After washing out two days of five days, it was speculated that the match was heading to a draw when Bangladesh started their unfinished first innings on fourth day with 107 runs for three wickets. But they finished the first innings for 233 runs. India began their first innings with an aggressive intent after bowling out Bangladesh, as they posted 285 runs for nine wickets, declared the innings with taking 59 runs lead. The Indian batters too violent to scored a record 51 runs in first three overs, the fastest in the 147 years’ Test history.

All the Indian batsmen chipped in with quickfire knocks, all maintaining a positive and attacking approach when they scored 285 runs in just 34.4 overs, at a terrific rate of 8.22 runs per over before declaration the innings when 30 minutes left of fourth day’s game.

On the other hands the performances of the Bangladesh’s batters was a simple reminder that lack of mental toughness, poor execution of skills, and inability to perform under

pressure were evident throughout the series, highlighting the need for significant improvements if they are to compete at the highest level.

Bangladesh began their second innings in a warm and sunny morning at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Tuesday with 26 for two with eight wickets in hands on fifth day. But it was simply unbelievable that they were bundled out only for 146 runs and set India only 95 runs target

to win.

Tigers’ batting debacle is more than concern ahead of the South Africa tour of Bangladesh when the Tigers could win even a match out of the 14 encounters, could manage draw in two matches.

Meanwhile, in the last day of the Kanpur Test, the wicket was batting favoure when there nothing on the pitch but a bit low bounce and turn.

There is no explanation or excuse of a horrible batting display on a such batting friendly wicket when Indian batters just proved that how easy it was to bat on that pitch.

In fact it’s a reality for the Bagladesh batters that they are yet get rid of some their elementary problems. Their match awareness is very much poor and can’t read the situation, as Shanto’s shot on the second ball of Rabindra Jadeja, Shadman’s shot right after completing his fifty, sluggish shot of Shakib and finally Mushfique’s shot on the last ball just before to go for lunch are the big illustrations.
