Marvel Studios is developing a new Thunderbolts film with director Jake Schreier helming the project.  For some time now, fans have been speculating that Marvel Studios had some kind of Thunderbolts film in the works. Since Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe began, the studio has seemingly laid the groundwork for such a project. Characters like Baron Zemo, Yelena Belova, Ghost, Taskmaster, The Abomination, US Agent, and Winter Soldier have all had prominent roles throughout Phase Four and even a bit of late Phase Three. In addition, the characters are all notably amoral individuals who would make good additions to such a team.

In the comics, the Thunderbolts is a team often led by Captain America antagonist Baron Zemo that is usually made up of reformed Marvel Universe antagonists. Like DC’s Suicide Squad, the group tends to take on more morally ambiguous missions that the otherwise more traditionally heroic characters may not have the stomach for. The team has also been led by General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross heading up a group of more traditional anti-heroes like The Punisher, Electra, Venom, and Deadpool. Now

According to a report from Deadline, Marvel Studios is developing a Thunderbolts film. Jake Schreier will be directing the project with Black Widow writer Eric Pearson is penning the script. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, as always, is producing the project. Very little is known about the upcoming film but will involve supervillains and/or former supervillains doing missions for the government. It was also suggested that the film will begin production sometime next summer.

In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Eric Pearson based on a story by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, the Marvel film stars Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, Olga Kurylenko, Ray Winstone, Olivier Richters, and Rachel Weisz.

The film is available on home video and Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming Thunderbolts film as we learn about it and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content. -Collider
