Chief Justice of Bangladesh Obaidul Hassan, Chief Justice of Nepal Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha, and High Court Justice of Bhutan Lobzang Rinzin Yargay paid their respects to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara, Gopalganj, on Friday.
The visiting dignitaries, led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan, arrived at the Mausoleum in Tungipara at 10:30 am. They each placed wreaths to honor the Father of the Nation and stood silently for a moment to pay their respects to the memory of the architect of independent Bangladesh. Following the wreath-laying, they recited the holy Fateha and Darood and participated in special prayers for the souls of Bangabandhu, his family members, and all martyrs of the August 15, 1975 tragedy, as well as those who died in the Liberation War of 1971. Imam Hafez Maulana Nawab Ali led the prayers in front of the rich complex Jame Masjid.
Present at the ceremony were Senior District and Session Judge of Gopalganj Md. Kamrul Hasan, District Commissioner Kazi Mahbubul Alam, District Superintendent of Police Al-Beli Afifa, District Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal Judge Md Haider Ali Khandkar, Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Sahadat Hossain Bhuiyan, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Debprasad Pal, Tungipara Upazila Chairman Md Babul Sheikh, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Moinul Haque, Upazila Awami League Vice President Ellias Hossain, Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khandkar Aminur Rahman, and officials from the Gopalganj Judiciary Department. Later, the visiting judges wrote comments and signed the inspection book in the administrative building of the Mausoleum of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
