A Kishoreganj court sentenced three to get hanged and one to get life term for killing Rafiqul Islam on Tuesday.
Kishoreganj Additional District & Session Judge Mohammad Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Hoque passed the verdict in presence of the accused. The condemned convict under section 302/34 panel code.
According to the prosecution, on the night August 29, 2013, at 9:30 pm, the victim Rafiqul Islam alias Ratan Bhuiyan was returning home from Bhatta Bazar of Katiadi Upazila. In that time accused persons were cut and serious injured. Later, Rafiqul Islam died while undergoing treatment. In this connection a case was filed at Katiadi Model Police Station. Police submitted a charge sheet against 6 accused. After the witness examination, the accused Furkan Bhuiyan (49), Shahed Bhuiyan (39), Engu Bhuiyan (59) were sentenced to death under section 302. Accused Mostafa Bhuiyan found guilty under Section 302/34 and sentenced to life term imprisonment and fined 1 lakh taka each in default of 2 months more.
The case was conducted by Assistant Public Prosecutor Jagasshwar Roy Chowdhury and Advocate Azizul Hoque Mintu for accused.
