Three people were killed in a lightning strike in Islampur upazila of Jamalpur. The accident took place at around 3:30 pm on Sunday (October 3) at Kanderchar village east of Chargoalini union in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Sundar Ali, 65, his grandson Rafiq Mia, 14, and Mofazzal Hossain's son Mosharraf, 48.
According to local sources, Sundar Ali and his grandson Rafiq Mia were working in agriculture near their house.
At that time it suddenly started to rain with thuder. Sundar Ali was killed on the spot by lightning strike while, Rafiq Mia and Mosharraf were seriously injured.

When the locals took them to Islampur Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, the on-duty doctor declared Rafiq Mia dead. Later, Musharraf died too.
