Three including polling agents jailed in Sarail

A mobile court on Wednesday sentenced three people, including two polling agents, to imprisonment ranging from seven days to 15 days for casting of fake vote and influencing voters in the first phase of Upazila election at Sarail in Brahmanbaria.

The court, led by Executive Magistrate Mohammad Selim Sheikh handed down the verdict while conducting a drive at Katanisar Government Primary School under Noagaon union of the Upazila at noon. The Executive Magistrate said the mobile court sentenced polling agent Shakib Mia 15 days in jail when he trying to cast fake votes at the Katanisar Government Primary School polling center. The mobile court also sentenced another polling agent Hridoy Mia and one Rakib Hasan to imprisonment for 10 and seven days respectively for influencing voters.

The Upazila election was held in Sarail and Nabinagar Upazilas in Brahmanbaria in the first phase.
