ICT Department Senior Secretary NM Ziaul Alam said, “It is the right time to build a sustainable high-tech manufacturing ecosystem in Bangladesh where high-tech parks can play a leading role. A labor-dependent economy is not enough to survive the competition of emerging economies to overcome the post-Covid-19 global recession.
In the current context, countries that are focusing on developing knowledge-based and technology-based industries will be able to attract FDI (foreign direct investment).”
The senior secretary urged to work for the development of technology-based infrastructure. He further said that 10 high-tech parks in the country are ready for investment at the moment, out of which three parks were recently inaugurated by the Prime Minister on Digital Bangladesh Day. Products produced in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City are also being exported abroad.
BHTPA Managing Director Bikarna Kumar Ghosh said, “The 21 companies that were allotted land and space in the three parks through the agreement today will work on high technology such as hardware, software, IoT, BPO, research and development (R&D), data center, etc. This will result in an investment of at least Tk 1,000 crore in the three parks and employment opportunities for 2,500 people.”
