Three drug peddlers detained in Noakhali

Noakhlai district Department of Narcotics Control detained three drug peddlers after conducting a drive at Noakhola union in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali district on Friday.

One kg of hemp, 160 pieces of yaba tablet, 10 bottles of Indian liquor, three cell phones, including two smart phones and Tk 1,72,560, cash obtained by selling drugs, were recovered from their possession at that time.

The detainees were identified as Nur Hossain Monir, 49, son of Abul Kashem, Babul, 45, son of Mofizul Haque and Harun, 49, son of Mohsin.

The detainees were sent to court through Chatkhil Police Station on Friday noon. They were detained on early Friday after conducting a drive at Orali Bhuiyan’s house in Noakhola village.

Assistant Director of Noakhali Department of Narcotics Control Mohammad Abdul Hamid said acting on a tip-off, a team of their department conducted drives in various areas of the upazila to recover drugs. During that time, they conducted a drive at the house of Nur Hossain Monir, a marked drug peddler of Noakhala union, and detained three drug peddlers, including Monir.

Later, based on the information provided by the drug peddlers, one kg of hemp, 160 pieces of yaba tablet, 10 bottles of Indian liquor and Tk 1,72,560, cash obtained by selling drugs, were seized from a steel made showcase and under a bed in that house.

He also said a case was filed against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act with Chatkhil Police Station. Further legal action will be taken against them through the police station.
