An auto-rickshaw driver named Nazim Uddin (40) was killed by robbers in Mymensingh.
The incident took place in Sadar upazila’s Gopalnagar Madhyapara area on Tuesday night (January 16).
Immediately after the incident, a robber involved in the murder was arrested and handed over to police.
On Wednesday (January 17) afternoon, the police arrested two other members of the robbery gang. The arrested are Tofail Ahmed Nashim (21) of Madhya Barera area and Palash (22) and Shakeel (24) of the same area.
Mymensingh's Kotwali Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Anwar Hossain said that the three robbers hired Nazim's auto-rickshaw saying that they were going from Dapunia Bazar to Gopalnagar Kari Mill at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday.
They stopped the auto-rickshaw and started beating the driver as they went in front of Maruf Sanitary Factory in Gopalnagar Madhyapara Kadurbari.
At one stage, the robbers stabbed Nazim Uddin and fled in an autorickshaw.
Later, on Nazim's screams, the people around came and rescued him and he died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
He said that after the incident, the locals detained Tofail Ahmed Nashim, who robbed an autorickshaw in Uzan Ghagra area and handed over auto-rickshaw to the police.
Later, on Wednesday afternoon, another two robbers, Palash and Shakeel, were arrested from Madhya Badera Chapra Mosque area.
This police official also said that after the case in Kotwali Model Police Station, the accused were handed over to the court in the afternoon, the brother of the victim, Nashir Uddin, became the plaintiff.
