RAB has arrested three persons, including the main accused in the case filed against them for abducting a woman from Cox's Bazar court premises in the guise of police, along with ten weapons. However, the number two accused in the case, identified as Md Russell who introduced him as a police officer remained elusive.
The three were arrested along with one foreign pistol and nine home-made guns from Napitkhali in Idgaon union of newly formed Eidgaon upazila on Friday.
The arrested are Firoz Ahmed (47), son of Ramzan Ali member of Eidgaon, now living in Fakirabazar area, Nurul Islam, son of robber Loda Miah and Md Abdul Gani, son of late Abdul Gani of Fakira Bazar area of Eidgaon Islampur Union. The arrested Firoz and Sharif are top terrorists of the upazila and fugitive accused in about a dozen cases, RAB said.
They are accused of various offenses including vandalism of Bangabandhu and PM's picture, extortion, cutting down hills, occupying government hills, felling forest trees and selling, destruction of environment, murder, kidnapping, robbery, drug trade and attempted murder RAB-15 Chief Lieutenant Colonel Khairul Islam said.
He said Md Sharif was the main robber on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway and the mastermind of various crimes including attempted murder. They are the name of the terror in the area. They have been carrying out crime by establishing a kingdom of terror in the area for a long time. If anyone speaks against them, they harass them in various ways including torture. The latest case was filed on March 14 in Cox's Bazar court premises, where a woman led by Feroz and Sharif was allegedly violated.
