Thousands of patients and their relatives have been facing untold sufferings as the roads in front of Jhenaidah Sadar hospital were damaged badly.
The suffering has been increasing with the time when local government engineering department (LGED) has keeping their eyes closed to repair the road.
Romisa Khatun, 62, of village Maharajpur rushed at the hospital to see a physician for her physical complications. But she fell down on the damaged road in front of the hospital during entrance. Rickshaw peddler Abdur Rahid said they face troubles to cross the road at the hospital gate, in south, west and north. Romisa Khatun said the people rush at the hospital to get treatment, while sustain injuries to get entry and exit time at the hospital gate. The elderly woman said water stagnant in front of the old building of the hospital goes under water during the monsoon as there was not system to drain out the rain water. It also adds new sufferings for all, she said.
Jhenaidah Sadar hospital superintendent Dr. Syed Rezaul Islam when contacted said they had informed the matter about damaged condition of the roads in written and orally. The LGED had assured then of repairing the same by June 2023, but failed. Later they had assured him of taking necessary steps in near future. The hospital superintendent said he had brought the matter in the notice of the deputy commissioner in the meeting of district development and coordination meeting time and again to resolve the crisis.
