A third-gender person (Hijra) at Gazipur was stabbed to death by her two tenants. The Hijra named Laily Bhandari sustained fatal stab injuries and died during treatment at Shahid Taj Uddin Medical College Hospital on Monday (28 Dec.) afternoon.
Officer-in-charge of Gazipur Metropolitan Police station Ismael Hossain informed, Laily was the owner of a three-storied building at Khailkur-Bhalkertek Molla Market area.
Manik and Dulal, two tenants called Laily to their room to discuss the problem of electricity lines of the room and stabbed Laily repeatedly by closing the door and escaped.
Later, neighbours rescued Laily from the room and took her to a local hospital. As the condition of Laily deteriorated, she was then shifted to Shahid Taj Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries in the afternoon. Body of Laily was infested with several stab injuries, sources said.
Jharna, another third-gender person filed a murder case with the police station. The dead body of Laily has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
