To succeed in the highly competitive job market of today, academic excellence is only the first step. Companies look for well-rounded people with a variety of experiences and useful skills. Participating actively in extracurricular activities is becoming more and more essential for business students.
This phenomenon is examined in a recent study called "The Impact of Extracurricular Activities on Personality Transformation for Undergraduate Business Students." The study examines how extracurricular involvement affects business students' personalities and future opportunities, drawing on the perspectives of more than 200 participants.
Participants reported participating in a variety of activities: 53% in clubs, 19% in professional associations, 30% in internships or volunteer work, and smaller percentages in sports, debates, and the arts. The participants were made up of 44% females and 56% males.
82.5% of participants agreed that engagement enhanced their leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, highlighting the study's transformative impact. Even though it can be difficult to balance extracurricular activities with schoolwork, 84% of respondents suggested getting involved for skill and personal development.
British American Tobacco recruiter Rahat Ara Kabir Kheya stresses the value of true involvement over token involvement. Although extracurricular activities improve resumes, she points out that employers value authenticity above all else.
Extracurricular activities are, in essence, essential tools that help business students stand out in a crowded field. Through purposeful pursuit of interests that are in line with their goals, students can develop critical abilities and showcase a well-rounded resume to potential employers. A combination of exceptional academic performance and significant extracurricular involvement is the key to success in the modern job market.
