Winter has started to settle in Sylhet. However, the intensity of winter may increase in the next two days. The temperature of Sylhet will be the lowest in early 2023, said the Sylhet Meteorological Office.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to low pressure over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, this rain is occurring in the southern and eastern parts of the country. The organization said that this rain will remain in Sylhet for a few days.Last Monday,it rained in several places in Sylhet. It may rain in some places in before the new year comes. However, the Meteorological Office said that the average rainfall in December is 9.4 mm. And till now it has rained 8.2 mm.
Sylhet Meteorological Office said that the last rain occurred in Sylhet on October 24. After 62 days, it rained in the district after six o'clock on Monday morning. The maximum temperature in Sylhet last Monday (December 26) was 20.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 17 degrees Celsius. And on Tuesday (December 27), the lowest temperature was recorded at 16.2 degrees Celsius.
Syed Ahmad Chowdhury, the senior meteorologist of Sylhet Meteorological Office, said that the sky is cloudy and cold is being felt. But the intensity of winter will increase after December 28. Sylhet temperature is expected to be a minimum on January 4, 2023. At that time the temperature will be around 12 degrees Celsius. It has rained in some places of Sylhet yesterday, there may be light rain in the next few days. But this rain is beneficial for crops.
Sayeed Ahmad Chowdhury said, usually the intensity of winter is around December, but it changes due to weather changes. Now it has shifted to January-February. This change is happening not only in the field of Sylhet but in the whole country.
Meanwhile, as the winter progresses, shoppers have started flocking to warm clothing stores as well. On Monday, a crowd of buyers was seen in the hot clothes shops in Jindabazar, Bandarbazar, and other areas of the city.
