The number of new coronavirus cases has been increasing in the country. But, there is no sign of following hygiene rules among the common people in Thakurgaon district.

People are roaming around without maintaining social distance or following other protective measures in the crowded place including markets.

At the village level, there is still a lack of interest among the common people to get vaccinated against coronavirus. Although some of them have been vaccinated, most are still not vaccinated against Covid-19.

In this current situation, the number of corona cases in the country is increasing every day.

Visiting various local Haats and markets, it was found that most of the people were not keen to wear masks in public. Therefore, Thakurgaon administration has again issued instructions to follow the health rules.

Campaigning has been going on in the area for the last few days on behalf of the Motor Owners Association saying that passengers will not be allowed to travel on public transport without wearing a mask.  Besides, unmasked service seekers are being barred from entering various departments of the administration.

According to the District Civil Surgeon's Office, 1,515 people have been infected with coronavirus in Thakurgaon district so far. A total of 1,469 of them have recovered while

29 have died of coronavirus. Only 3 cases have been identified in the district this month.

On the other hand, 40,679 people have been vaccinated in the district till now including 25,862 males and 14,817 females. In this regard, Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Mamun said, “The district administration has already issued instructions for campaigning at the union level to ensure the use of masks and following hygiene rules as the new cases of coronavirus are increasing in the country.”

“In addition, the roles of teachers and imams are also being given importance in ensuring corona vaccination. Utmost importance is being given on vaccinating elderly people,” he added.

The UNO further said, “The president and the lessee of markets have been informed to urge people to follow the hygiene rules in the hat-bazaar, markets and other crowded places. Mobile courts will be operated within a short time to monitor the situation.”
