Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Wednesday said Thailand has become one of the most important trade partner for Bangladesh within the South-East Asia and ASEAN states.
He said bi-lateral trade between the two countries is increasing incessantly in the recent years as currently the trade is worth1.2 billion Us Dollar and there have every possibilities to increase it further in the coming years, Minister added.
The Minister was addressing the inaugural session of 4-day-thai festival titled 'Top Thai Brands-2024' and Thai Food Festival at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in the capital.
Thai Ambassador in Bnagladesh Makawadee Sumitmor presided over the event while Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister Councillor, Thai Embassy Dhaka, Phanom Thongprayum and Minister Councillor (Commercial), Khemathat Archawathamrong addressed among others.

Makawadee Sumitmor, while addressing, said that trade fairs are a way to strengthen the relationship between two countries, adding that a total of 64 exhibitors will take part in the exhibition.
Terming Thailand as one of the popular tourist destinations in the world, she said that the number of Bangladesh visitors reached the pre-pandemic level as some 140,000 Bangladesh visitors toured Thailand in 2023.
Sumitmor also said Thailand issues some 4,000 medical visas to Bangladeshis a year as the Southeast Asia is also a popular medical tourist destination in the world.
A group of beautiful Thai dancers will also fly all the way from Thailand to perform their vibrant ‘Thai Dance’ on every event day.
This cultural show, along with Thai cuisine, will be a wonderful blend of oriental flavours infused with the local taste. High on Thai spice, the festival will surely be a scrumptious feast for food connoisseurs.
