The National Textbook Festival was celebrated on the first day of New Year-2020 through distribution of free textbooks among the school and madrasa students across the country on Wednesday.
The government began distributing around 3,53,144,554 free textbooks to more than 42 million students. The government has printed these textbooks by maintaining proper standard for pre-primary, primary, secondary, Ebtedayee and SSC level students.

In Savar, the Textbook Festival-2020 was held at Savar Adharchandra High School and other school and madrasas in Savar amid festive mood, reports our Savar Correspondent
Mahbub Hossain, Secretary (Secondary and Higher education) of Education ministry Presided over the program while Dr. Dipu Moni MP, Education Minister, was present as the chief guest. Dr. Dipu Moni said, “Students should always stay away from drug, terrorism, violence.”
Dr. Enamur Rahman MP, State minister for Disaster management and relief, Mohammad Jaynul Bari, Secretary of social welfare ministry, Abu Saleh Mohammad Ferdous Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka district, Maruf Hossain Sarder, Superintendent of Dhaka Zila Police (SP), Hazi Abdul Goni, Mayor, Savar Municipality, Manjurul Alam Razib, Chairman of Savar Upazila, Parvejur Rahman, Executive officer of Savar Upazila also present at the program along other.
In Jhenidah, over 4.6 lakh children of six upazilas of the district have received new books on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath handed the new books to the minor learners through a simple ceremony at Jhenidah government girls school, reports our Roving Correspondent.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Arif Uz Zaman, Jhenidah government girls school headmaster Lakkhi Rani Podder, assistant headmaster Abdul Malek among others present during the book distribution programme.
Saroj Kumar Saha in his speech said the government of the Prime Mister Sheikh Hasina has been doing anything and everything to make the women community good citizens towards an equal state i0rerespective of cast, creed and gender.
In Kishoreganj, a total of 70,44,440 text books were distributed among the 8,37,375 students in Kishoreganj, reports our Kishoreganj Correspondent.
Deputy Commissioner Md Sarwar Murshed Chowhdury formally inaugurated free text books distribution programme at a function at Biam Labratories School in the district town on Wednesday morning. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Abdul Kadir Mia attended as special guest. It was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Md. Habibur Rahman presided over the function. It was addressed among others by District Education Officer Md. Zulfiqur Hossain, Disrict Primary Education Officer Subrata Kumar Bonik, President Abdul Hamid Medical College Principal Dr. A.N.M Nowshad Khan, and Haybatnagar A.U Kamil Madrasha Principal A.K.M Ruhul Amin.
On the other hand, Kishoreganj Police Lines School arranged a free book distribution programme at its playground. Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) attended as chief guest while School Headmaster Shafiqul Islam in the chair. Additional S.P (Promoted S.P) Nazmul Islam, Additional S.P Mizanur Rahman were attended as special guest.
In Chuadanga, the Text Book Festival-2020 was held at Chuadanga Collectorate School premises on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chuadanga, Nazrul Islam Saeker inaugurated the festival by distributing books among students. Principal of the school, Md. Masuduzzaman Masud presided over the event while ADC Monira Parvin and NDC Sibbir Ahmed were the special guests. All the teachers, students and guardians were present at the time, reports our Chuadanga Correspondent.
In Nabinagar, Mujib Year-2020 has been started by book distribution programme at Nabinagar upazila in Brahmanbaria on Wednesday, reports our Nabinagar Correspondent
Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Monirujjaman Monir was present as the chief guest of the programme while UNO Mohammad Masum inaugurated the books distribution programme.
At that time, Assistant-Commissioner (land) Iqbal Hasan, Upazila Secondary Officer Md Mokarram Hossain, Upazila Education Officer Abdul Awal, Academic Supervisor Eti Begum, Assistant-education Officer Abdul Kayum and Matiur Rahman along with others were also present.
However, 4, 41,855 textbooks 221 Upazila Primary Schools and 130 Kindergarten schools were distributed in Nabinagar upazila.
In Sunamganj, students were seen delighted to get their new textbooks on due time as the textbook distribution festivity added a new dimension to their ecstasy on the New Year's Day in Sunamganj on Wednesday, reports our Sunamganj Correspondent
Hundreds of school children wearing school uniforms were seen holding new textbooks at the book distribution festival. Unprivileged students were very happy after getting new textbooks on the first day of the New Year.
New text books were distributed jointly in Jubilee High School, Government Girls' High School on that day.
Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj Mohammad Abdul Ahad was present as the chief guest in the book distribution progrmme. At that time, Headmaster and guardians were also present.
According to district primary and secondary education officials, a total of 19, 55, 862 textbooks were distributed among the primary and 68,018 textbooks among pre-primary level students while 33, 50, 947 textbooks were distributed among the secondary level students at free of cost in this year.
