The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-11) conducted a raid arrested Narayanganj top listed terrorist and convicted Jakir Khan with a foreign made pistol from Boshundhora area under Vatara police station in the capital city at early hours on Saturday.
The arrested Jakir Khan, 48, son of late Dowlot Khan, resident of Debhog area under Narayanganj Sadar police station, was a fugitive for 18 years abroad and home.
Lieutenant Colonel Tanvir Mahmood Pasha, commanding officer of RAB-11 in a brief at his office at Adamjinagor of Shiddhirganj in Narayanganj on Saturday noon claimed that the arrested Jakir Khan is wanted for four murders and innumerable criminal cases.
He was powerful underworld criminal and godfather that extended his supremacy in terrorism sector. He suffered jail life in different criminal cases and after getting released he formed a large scale terrorist gang and drug peddlers. He came in light as an unparallel terrorist in the district by killing Doyal Masud by shooting in broad daylight on Bangabandhu road in Narayanganj.
BNP leader Taimur Alam Khadoker’s younger brother also vice-president Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) Sabbir Alam Khandoker was killed by shooting in front of his house at Masdair area in the early hours of the day on February 18, 2003. Taimur’s filed a murder case with Fatulla police mentioning Jakir Khan as chief accused. After that Jakir left home in 2004 and had been lived in Thailand as a fugitive. He is convicted in different criminal cases, RAB added.
RAB also revealed that a case was filed against Jakir Khan in 1994 under the section terrorism criminal activities prevention special act and he was sentenced for 17 years. Later, the conviction time was reduced by 8 years by the appeal court.
