With a changed post-coronavirus-world that has changed the demand of the job market, students must acquire technological skill alongside their career oriented education to overcome the post-Covid job crisis.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post economists opined that the post Covid-19 job market will require special skills, which would mark them as unique employees from others.

Economics professor Mohammod Akbar Kabir told the Bangladesh Post, “The current job market has significantly changed after corona fallout. As many companies moved their workstations to online to tackle the unprecedented situation, they are looking for candidates who have special problem-solving skill with advanced digital communication aptitude.”

“Unfortunately in our country many job seekers lack technical skill such as how to conduct a virtual zoom meeting or how to give presentation over video conference,” he added.

Akbar Kabir also suggested that current students and who already entered into job market to learn some advance skill so that they can cope up with existingup-to-date demand.

Economist professor Salah Uddin Ahmed told the Bangladesh Post, “If you look at job circulars of recent times that’s enough to pass you a rough idea which technical skills are compulsory to get a job. It happened in the wake of the global corona virus outbreak; companies never experienced such a bizarre before. Hardly had they encountered that the whole office work through online.”

“As variousglobal companies already shifting works to online until arrival of vaccine, they are offering jobs to those young candidates who got essential technical skills. Most of our students are not concerned about their skills apart from academic bookish knowledge”, he added.

Earlier on September this year, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni at a virtual webinar highlighted the government's post-epidemic education plan.

"We have to be ready to modernize the teaching process after the coronavirus epidemic and give the utmost importance to technical education, technology will change drastically. Our new challenge is to adapt to this change,”she added.

She further elaborated that in order to achieve theSustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets and demographic dividend by 2030, it is necessary to focus on the fourth industrial revolution. Our greatest tool is technical education. In addition to modernizing the education system, ‘National Perspective Plan’ formulated in 2010 and the Education Act will also be finalized.”
