The teaser of Mujib: Ekti Jatir Rupkotha’ (Mujib: The Making of a Nation) based on the biography of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be released in the commercial branch of Cannes Film Festival, Marché du Film at the Indian Pavilion, Kansai on May 19.
Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud confirmed the news to the media he was invited by India's Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur, who will be present at the teaser release of 'Mujib: A Shape of a Nation'. The director film Shyam Benegal is also expected to be present on the occasion.
Regarding the context the director of the film Shyam told American magazine Variety, “We hope that the distributors of Kan will be interested in this movie. Because, it is the largest market in the world; Where more distributors are present than at any other festival.The movie is going through a long VFX process now”.
Earlier, this year the Bangladesh-India joint venture film released its first official teaser poster official poster on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The poster highlights the moment of Bangabandhu’s historic speech on March 7, 1971 at Suhrawardy Udyan. The scene of Bangabandhu waving his hand towards the crowd has been kept in the poster. Didn’t show anyone’s look though. Written on the tag line, ‘Mujib: Ekti Jatir Rupkotha’ (Mujib: The Making of a Nation). The same scene is kept in the second poster like the previous one with some changes that shows Shuvoo's side profile in it.
In the film National award-winning actor Arifin Shuvoo has played the lead character Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Apart from him the film also features Nusraat Faria Mazhar who will play the role of Bangabandhu's daughter and the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. Nusrat Imroz Tisha as Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, eminent actress Dilara Jaman will play the role of Bangbandhu's mother Sahera Khatun, actor Khairul Alam Sabuj will act as Bangabandhu's father Sheikh Lutfor Rahman, Shahidul Alam Sachchu as Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq, Ferdous Ahmed as Tajuddin Ahmed, Tauquir Ahmed as Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy, Tushar Khan as Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah, Fazlur Rahman Babu as Khandakar Moshtaq Ahmed and Misha Sawdagor as Aiyub Khan, among others. It is learnt that the second poster's release came one and a half months after the first poster was made public by the National Film Development Corporation of India and Bangladesh Film Development Corporation on March 19 in Mumbai, in the presence of Benegal.
The shooting of the first phase of the movie started at the end of January 2021 at Dada Saheb Phalke Studio in Mumbai. Dayal Nihalani is working as an associate director in the movie. The screenplay was written by Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi. Nitish Roy is in charge of directing the industry. Pia Benegal, daughter of Shyam Benegal, is the costume director.
