Teachers of privately-run secondary educational institutions and madrasas in Faridpur formed a human chain in front of Faridpur Press Club on Tuesday to press home their seven-point demand. They also sent a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
The human chain was formed at 11:00am on the day. During the programme, they presented their seven-point demand including the nationalization of privately-run secondary educational institutions to eliminate disparities, halting the appointment of government school teachers to various administrative positions until nationalization, and the formation of an education reform commission.
Bangladesh Teachers’ Association Faridpur district unit General Secretary Mahmud Al Siddique presided over the programme. Mohammad Nazrul Islam, General Secretary of the Teachers' Employees Oikyajot Faridpur District Branch, Mohammad Mohiuddin, Assistant Headmaster of Koshagopalpukur High School, Alauddin Matubbar, and others spoke at the programme.
During the programme, the leaders said that discrimination was created against them during the previous government's tenure.
