Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started to sell products of daily needs in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna. To meet the demand of Ramadan, TCB authorities has taken the step. Locals of the upazila are leaning towards buying products from TCB shop.
Officials said that two dealers have taken charge to sell products in Chatmohar upazila. Nirob Enterprise and Sagar Sojib Traders in the area are selling soya bin oil, lentil, sugar, date and onion. Due to low price, locals of the upazila are swarming at the TCB shops.
‘Stocks are becoming empty due to huge demand. We have ordered more products from regional TCB office,” said a salesperson of TCB shop.
Samed Prang, a buyer from Haripur union said that getting goods at lower price in the nationwide lockdown is a blessing for them. But the quality of onion is questionable. Bokul Rohman from Pathanpara area said that TCB is selling 5 litres of soya bin oil at Tk 500 whereas the same oil is being sold at Tk 680 in the market. A huge amount of money is being saved after buying goods from TCB shops.
Owner of Nirob Enterprise said that the price rate of Suger per kilo is Tk 55, Lentil per kilo is TK 55, date per kilo is Tk 80, onion per kilo is Tk 20 and soya bin oil per litre is Tk 100. People are swarming from early morning to buy the goods.
However, the sale of onion is on the low side due to the quality.
Johurul Islam, Ownar of Sagar Sojib Traders said that stocks are quickly depleting due to heavy demand. TCB’s decision to start selling in the upazila has become an economically beneficial choice for the locals.
Chatmohar Upazila Panel Chairman Firoja Parvin said that people from all walks off lives are getting beneficial by TCB’s decision.
