Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) under the Ministry of Commerce started its essential goods selling for the month of March on Thursday. Additional deputy commissioner (ADC, general) Rathindra Nath Roy inaugurated the selling activities at a subsidized rate on Jhenaidah Shishu Academy premises on Thursday morning.
TCB sources said, presided over by Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Razia Akter Chowdhury, assistant director of the corporation Atiqur Rahman, district children affairs officer Ayub Hossain Rana, among others, were present at the inaugural session.
ADC (general) Rathindra Nath Roy in his inaugural speech said, the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been trying to stand by the underprivileged and disadvantaged people when the globe was affected by Ukraine- Russia war, caught in global pandemic corona virus at a subsidized rate so that the affected people might lead their families with the food items at their doorsteps every month.
The sources said a total of 120,133 families are enjoying the TCB goods like two kilograms of lentil, two litres of soyabean oil, one kilogram of sugar and five kilograms of rice at a subsidized price at Taka 540 in Jhenaidah sadar, Kaliganj, Kotchandpur, Moheshpur, Shailkupa and Harinakundu upazilas. The sugar was added to the current month considering the month of fasting, the TCB sources said.
