TCB begins sale of daily essentials in Jhenaidah

The trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in Jhenaidah has started selling of essential commodities among the distressed persons through family cards. 

Thecampaign was inaugurated for July in front of Jhenaidah police lines on Sunday morning. 

Presided over by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) in Jhenaidash Sadar Sadiya Jarin, deputy commissioner (DC) SM Rafiqul Islam inaugurated the event as chief guest. 

District information officer (DIO) Abu Bakar Siddique, assistant director of TCB in Jhenaidah area Atiqur Rahman, district controller of food (DC Food) in Hasan Mia, local municipality ward councilor Arefin Kawser and TCB dealer Mamun Hossain among others spoke. 

DC SM Rafiqul Islam in his speech said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has allocated rice, sugar, edible oil, pulse and such other essential commodities at a tolerable and subsidized prices so that no one should suffer from food anyway as her election pledges. To make the people hunger-free, the government has ben importing essential commodities from different countries against the foreign currency. 

Following demand of additional family cards for TCB goods for more people, the deputy commissioner assured of sending a proposal to the higher authority so that it should be considered for the interest of the distressed people. 

TCB sources said, a total of 120,133 card holders have been receiving essential goods in all six upazilas of the district at a subsidized prices every month.
