Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) had started selling its essential commodities activities at a subsidized price in Jhenaidah. Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Safiqul Islam inaugurated the selling programme in a simple ceremony at Jhenaidah Shishu Academy premises on Wednesday morning.
Presided over by assistant commissioner (AC, Land) also acting upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Sharmin Akter Sumi, TCB assistant director Atiqur Rahman, district information officer Abu Bakar Siddique, district children affairs officer Ayub Hossain Rana, municipality councilor Shamsul Arefin Kaiser, TCB dealer Sohan Hossain among others present.
DC SM Rafiqul Islam in his speech said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been standing by the poor and disadvantaged people where they were caught in Covid 19 and them in the slap of Russia - Ukraine War. The motive of the government was to ensure food and other essential goods among the poor at a reasonable price so that the affected people might survive overcoming poverty and hunger continuously. The humanitarian activities will help attain the objectives of “Smart Bangladesh” by desired time, DC SM Rafiqul Islam said. TCB sources said a total of 120,133 family card holders are receiving TCB goods including two liters of soyabean oil and lentil and five kilograms of rice at Taka 479. 43 dealers in six upazilas of the district were selected to distribute the goods among the beneficiaries, the sources said.
