The Bangladesh Tariqat Federation (BTF) has thanked the Indian ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for taking strong action against the party staffers who made insulting comments against Prophet Muhammad (Sm).
Tarikat Federation is a secular-Sufi political party in Bangladesh. In a statement, it said the leaders of the party met Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Vikram Kumar Doraiswami on Monday and expressed their concerns over the remarks against the Prophet Muhammad (Sm).
At the same time, they thanked the Indian government for taking strong action against those who made the insulting remarks. Earlier, the ruling BJP suspended the party’s national spokeswoman Nupur Sharma and expelled Delhi media operation head Naveen Kumar Jindal from party membership over the remarks against the Prophet. The police had also registered a case against them.
The BPJ in a statement said during the thousands of years of the history of India every religion has blossomed and flourished. “The Bharatiya Janata Party respects all religions. The BJP denounces insults of any religious personalities of any religion.
“The BJP is also strongly against any ideology which insults or demeans any sect or religion. The BJP does not promote such people or philosophy.
“India’s constitution gives the right to every citizen to practice any religion of his/her choice and to honour and respect every religion.
“As India celebrates 75th year of its independence, we are committed to making India a great country where all are equal and everyone lives with dignity, where all are committed to India’s unity and integrity, where all enjoy the fruits of growth and development.”
The Bangladesh Tariqat Federation, however, noted that vested interests that are against the friendly India Bangladesh relationship are attempting to incite the people using derogatory comments.
“Bangladesh and India relations are strong, friendly, historic and spiritual,” they said, adding that anti-liberation forces would not be allowed to do anything against the spirit of India, Bangladesh relations.
They also handed over the press release to the High Commissioner during the meeting on Monday.
