Renowned actor Tariq Anam Khan is taking on a new role as the leader of a movement calling for changes within Actors' Equity Bangladesh. His appointment as the acting head has received the endorsement of all of its members. The goal of this choice is to resolve the organization's current crisis.
On Wednesday, the Actors' Equity held a general meeting to discuss reforms at the SKS Convention Centre in Mohakhali. At this meeting, a "Interim Reforms Committee" was formed, and Tariq Anam was chosen to lead it.
The newly formed committee will prevent the current leadership from making decisions and will initiate various reforms. Its term is set for four months, after which elections will be held to appoint a new leadership.
Former president Ahsan Habib Nasim noted that while the interim committee has been established, the existing 21 members will not resign. “We will continue regular office activities, but significant decisions will be made only by the Interim Chief,” he stated.
Tariq Anam officially began his role as head of the Interim Reforms Committee on September 19. He will be supported by four additional members, although their identities have not yet been disclosed. The initiative reflects a collective effort among actors to navigate the challenges facing their association and to push for necessary reforms.
