The Anti-British Tanka revolution movement leader Kumudini Hajong passed away at her village home at Susang Durgapur in Netrakona on Saturday noon. She was 92.
She was a close ally of Moni Singh, who led Tanka Movement at Susang Durgapur in demand of abolition of the Tanka system for the farmers who cultivated land of the landlords in the area.
The movement was initiated in 1937 and the rights of the farmers were established and the Tanka system was abolished.
From then on, the farmers were getting the half of cultivated crops after cultivating the land of the owners.
