Tamim bats in nets

Former Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal began his batting practice at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Tamim held the batting session around 2.30 pm in the nets, however the left-handed batter carried out the session for 15 minutes.

Following the batting session, Tamim went to the main field and ran for a while with the newly appointed head of the BCB rehabilitation center, Kieron Thomas.

The former captain travelled to London for treatment in the first week of August as a part of rehabilitation. Tamim is currently under the observation by BCB medical team, he is expected to return with the New Zealand series after the Asia Cup.

The 34-year-old batter stepped down from the ODI captaincy owing to injury concerns, which also ruled him out of the upcoming Asia Cup. He has been out of action since the Afghanistan series, he last appeared in the first ODI match against Afghanistan at home. 

The Tigers returned to their normal practice after holding four-day closed-door practice. Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain, Towhid Hridoy and Shamim Patwary with Hasan Mahmud were seen to join the practice at Mirpur.
