People of Chuadanga who are used to eat white cauliflower are now getting colored cauliflower. This cauliflower, which is not colored, but naturally yellow and purple in color, has been cultivated in Huchukpara village of Chuadanga Sadar Upazila.
Manik Ratan got success by cultivating colorful cauliflower on 15 land for the first time after watching YouTube.
Manik Ratan is from of Huchukpara village of Alukdia Union of Chuadanga Sadar Upazila. After the death of his father, he started farming in addition to studies since childhood. Became interested in cultivating new crops. He got interested in colorful cauliflower cultivation this year after watching YouTube.
Not getting colorful cauliflower seeds in the country market, he rushed to India.
As it was late to get the seeds there, he returned to the country. After that, 20 grams of seeds of colorful carantina and valentina varieties were collected and sown for seedlings through Syngenta company representative in the village.
Which is suitable for planting between 25 to 30 days. In this regard, Manik Ratan said that colored cauliflower should be cultivated in the same way as white cauliflower.
He has spent 25 thousand taka in cultivating colorful cauliflower on 15 khata land. 3 thousand 500 yellow and purple varieties of cauliflower have been produced on his tree. The market price of which is about 80 thousand taka. It has been found that the price of colored cauliflower is Tk 20 to Tk 30 per kg more than the white one in the market.
People from nearby villages are flocking to see Manik Ratan's cauliflower field. Some are taking photos with colorful cauliflowers. Many are buying copies from the garden.
Anwar Hossain, a farmer of Akundabaria village of Sadar upazila, who came to see vegetables, said, I also want to grow colorful cauliflower. So I came to see. Cauliflowers look great.
Another farmer of the same area, Sirajul Islam, said that the colorful cauliflower looks very beautiful and the demand for it is high in the market. Manik is selling this cauliflower at a higher rate than our white cauliflower.
Farmer Mominul Islam said that usually white cauliflower is sold at the rate of Tk 20 to Tk 30 per kg in the market.
However, colored cauliflower is being sold at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per kg. All are sold out within a few moments after being put on the market.
Chuadanga Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Afrin Bindh Aziz said, this is the first time colored cauliflower has been grown in the district. Colored cauliflower can be grown at the cost of white cauliflower. Its market value is higher. Farmers have become interested in this cultivation as the profit is high.
