Synchronized Boro harvesting starts in Jhenaidah

Harvesting of Boro paddy cultivated in synchronized method started in Jhenaidah on Tuesday. 

The paddy was harvested from Dharmatala field under Sadhuhati union in Jhenaidah Sadar. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jhenaidah SM Rafiqul Islam was present as the chief guest at the Boro harvesting inauguration.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of Jhenaidah Sadar, District Training Officer Mosharraf Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Razia Akter Chowdhury, Upazila Agricultural Officer (UAO) Nur E Nabi, Additional Agricultural Officer Junayeed Habib, Agricultural Extension Officer Mir Raqibul Islam among others were also present there.

The paddy was harvested with combine harvester and packed in the sachets in a short time. Least cost of harvesting the crop without any hassle made the farmers happy. A number of farmers said that the system will help them a lot and save their labour and time during harvesting. They said they will be able to complete the harvesting of one acre of land at Taka 6,500 which was almost three times more that the present system.

DAE sources said the farmers in six Jhenaidah Upazilas cultivated Boro paddy on their 89,206 hectares of land in the season.
