Zakir Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim steered Sylhet Strikers to seal a wicket win against Khulna Tigers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
Khulna chased down the simple target of 114 runs set by Khulna, with the help of 90-run stand between Mushfiqur and Zakir for the third wicket.
Khulna lost their openers Towhid Hridoy and Najmul Hossain Shanto within the first couple of overs, then the pair formed a strong combination that helped the team win their ninth match of the tournament.
Zakir departed soon after hitting his second half-century of BPL, he struck five boundaries and a six to score 50 runs and Mushfiqur departed on 39 after being run-out by Hasan Murad at the non-striker end.
Then Ryan Burl contributed 12 runs to hand Sylhet an easy-win over Khulna Tigers. Nahidul Islam, Tanvir Islam and Hasan Murad took one wicket each.
While batting first Khulna managed to score 113 for 8 in 20 overs. Tanzim Hasan Sakib picked up three wickets with Rubel Hossain and Imad Wasim each taking two wickets for Sylhet.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy played a crucial innings for Khulna as the latter scored 41 off 41 before getting castled by Sakib. Other batters of Khulna did not manage to cross the double digits, despite captain Yasir Ali (12) and Nahidul Isalm (22). who played brief innings in the middle.
Imad was adjudged as the man of the match, who did not bat but returned bowling figures of two wickets leaking only 10 runs in his four overs.
