Sylhet Strikers beat Fortune Barishal by two runs in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, on Tuesday.
Barishal needed 14 runs in the last over, but they could only manage to score 12, with the help of Wasim Junior as he struck a six and a four in the last two deliveries of Rejaur Rahman Raja.
Sylhet's Rejaur scalped three wickets while Mohammad Amir and Tanzim Hasan Sakib picked up two wickets each.
Chasing 174, Barishal made an emphatic start as opener Ibrahim Zadran and Saif Hassan struck a 45-run opening partnership but impulsive Saif departed scoring 31 off 19 hitting four sixes.
Zadran top-scored with 42 while Shakib al Hasan played a brief innings of 29 runs. Karim Jannat played a cameo innings of 21 off 12.
Najmul Hossain Shanto smashed 89 off 66 to power Sylhet Strikers to post 173-5 in 20 overs.
Shanto hit 11 boundaries with one six to play his remarkable innings and added 81 runs with Tom Moores to rescue the side when Sylhet were slumped to 15-3 as Wasim took three wickets in an over.
Tom departed after scoring 40 off 30 deliveries aided by four boundaries and a six and Thisara Perera played a short innings of 21 runs.
