The Weeklong Sylhet Divisional Book Fair, jointly organised by Sylhet district administration and Jatiya Grantha Kendra, is going to begin on Sylhet Government Alia Madrasah tomorrow (December 23).
The book fair will continue until December 29. It will remain opened for visitors from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm everyday.
The district administration sources said that all the preparations have been completed to hold the divisional book fair in a befitting manner. A number of publishing houses are taking part in the book fair. Several publishing houses from Dhaka are also taking part in the weeklong book fair.
Najmul Huda Rana, Director & Head of Sales and Marketing of Guardian Publications, on Sunday told the Bangladesh Post that alongside some other publications, their publishing house is also taking part in the Weeklong Sylhet Divisional Book Fair from the capital.
He called upon the people of Sylhet to visit the book fair spontaneously.
In his reaction, Abdul Hye Al-Hadi, writer of several books who lives in Sylhet city, expressed happiness over arranging the book fair. He said, “Members of the young generation are losing interest in reading book due to excessive use of Facebook and other social networks. Such initiative will encourage the new generation to read books. The government should arrange more book fair in the grassroots level,” he said.
