The unknown miscreants have allegedly gunned down a swechchhasebak League leader of Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah. The deceased was identified as Shamim Hossain, 48, son Golam Rasul Nantu of the Shura village, Shamim was the joint convener of sechchhasewak League Harinakundu upazila unit in Jhenaidah.
Locals and police said, Shami left his home after the Esha prayer at about 8.30 Pm on Thursday. Letter he was rescued form the irrigation canal side at about 9pm. The locals taken him to Harinakundu upazila health complex where the attending physician de2`clared him dead. The physicians said they found a bullet hit mark at his left chest during examining.
Harinakuandu upapzila health and family planning officer (UHFPO) Dr. Jaminur Rashid when contacted said Shamim had succumbed to his injuries before rushing in the hospital due to excessive bleeding.
Officer in charge of Harinakundu police station (OC) Mahbubur Rahaman when contacted said they had recovered the body and sent to Jhenaidah sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination.
They were preparing to file a case in this regard. The police will grill the killers at any cost within a short time, the OC said.
